My mom is in the ICU. Tuesday night she called at 11 p.m. and said she was short of breath. After an ambulance ride to the ER, we found that she had a heart attack. She also had pneumonia and fluid around her heart (congestive heart failure). They initially suspected a blood clot in the lung but that has been ruled out.
She is on a ventilator to breathe for her so her lungs can heal. She has an external pacemaker that zaps her heart when it beats too slowly. It's a good thing they have her totally sedated because she'd be pulling out all those tubes.
She is a fighter. She beat breast cancer.
She is my hero.
I don't want to lose her.
